Review ‘Break the Barrier – Thames Rocket’

On Saturday, the 20th of July, my friend Svenja and I were invited to the preview ride of London’s new attraction on the Thames. The event was organised by freerange communications who are responsible for the PR of London RIB, the company behind the Thames Rocket.

We arrived at 11am at St.Katherine’s Pier just next to Tower Bridge to meet Julia, Claudia and the rest of the group. Shortly after we met Mike, who provided us with über stylish life jackets, and Joe our head skipper. Health and Safety can be boring, but not with Mike, a comic host who knows how to entertain guests on the red inflatable boat during the 40 minute ride. We were all very excited and soon after the ride started. While listening to ‘Best of British’ soundtrack we passed the Cutty Sark, Canary Wharf, Greenwich and the O2 arena all the way the to Thames Barrier. Without being interrupted by phone calls from Boris Johnson, Prince Charles and the Prime Minister we went full speed back to Limehouse. In Limehouse we were greeted by Charlie Matheson, the great mind behind the red speed boats, and went for lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s pub ‘The Narrow’. Two lovely waitresses were already waiting for us with Pimms and sparkling water. Needless to say that nobody drank the latter. While waiting for our lunch we all had a chance to talk to Charlie who was happy to answer all our questions and grateful to hear our feedback. I have no doubt that the ride will be a success and I am looking forward to take my friends and family while visiting me in London. I don’t want to tell you too much about the ride, you really have to go and try it for yourself. This is a must do for every Londoner and of course for all the tourists who come and visit this city.
