Arrival in Las Vegas

Three days ago I arrived in Las Vegas and life has been good ever since. The 10 hour flight was rather enjoyable and time flew by. Upon arrival at Las Vegas airport it took me one hour to get through immigration and customs and very soon I was on my way to the hotel. The taxi driver thought I was in Vegas for the first time and really took me for a ride. I paid nearly twice the price I usually pay from the airport to the Strip. To be honest every single taxi driver but one drove a longer way than needed to earn a few more dollars. Sorry, my new rule is that I don’t tip the minimum of 10-15% of the fare and only round up the amount to the next dollar if I know that they are trying to rip me off. One example? One taxi driver drove 4.2 miles instead of 2.7 miles and the total amount was $14.20. I rounded up to $15 and he still had the check to only give me $2 back from my $20 note. Of course I said something. I am not being tight with money here but when I know they not just literally took me for a ride I will not tip.

However, I just love Las Vegas and I mainly spent my days by the pool tanning and sipping cocktails so far. Thursday was a lazy day. I met my friends at the Aria Resort and Casino where we had a drink in the afternoon and in the evening I returned to the same place with two other friends. I went to bed late and woke up at noon on Friday. I sunbathed by the pool and got ready to go out for dinner and drinks in the evening with my friends. We had an unhealthy dinner at Snacks inside the Bellagio Hotel followed by too many drinks at The Cosmopolitan. I went to bed after 7am and had to wake up by 10am.

After less than three hours of sleep yesterday I watched Germany versus Ghana at the Hofbrauhaus in Las Vegas. I didn’t drink German beer but I ate the most delicious German potato soup. It really cured my hangover and I felt better instantly. Of course I was a bit sad that Germany didn’t win but to be fair Ghana played as good as Germany played badly. I visited my best friend at the Venetian Hotel where she played a $600 Ladies Poker Event but she busted quickly and we went shopping at Walgreens. My hair straightener doesn’t work in the US and as I travel a lot to the US I bought some straighteners for here. I was far too tired in the evening to go anywhere in the evening and had an early night. This morning I got up at 7:30am this morning, had some breakfast at Starbucks and now I am off to the pool. More to follow soon.

I am posting many pictures on my Instagram.

Can't believe the taxi driver! This has happend to me several times, especially in foreign countries. I think people see a woman from a different country and think we're easy targets! I lived in Germany, in Hamburg so I was excited to read that you're from Germany! I've not been to Las Vegas, hope you have an amazing time! I've just started following you on bloglovin. I don't know if you're interested in following me. I blog about fashion and beauty. I will leave my link anyway!

Yes, I am glad I don't really have to use taxis anymore as I am right in the City Center since Monday and can walk everywhere.

    Hello Lorna,
thanks for your comment. I am very happy to tip if I received a good service. Good service is for me that the taxi driver drives to my chosen location without taking the long way around. I can understand if traffic is bad and he tells me there is a longer way that's quicker timewise. Just had a look at the Bloglovin and followed you.
