|The view I expected|
UPDATE 14th of June 2014: The hotel management got in touch with me and apologised for the inconvenience caused. They have refunded 20% of the cost of my stay and promised to make any further stays more enjoyable. I will update you on my next stay there.
I travelled to Frankfurt on Tuesday for two days and booked a hotel for the first night. My first hotel choice, the Roomers, was sold out on Booking.com but the Wyndham Grand Hotel was close by and recommended. I booked one of their Sky Deluxe rooms which promised a “Panoramic view of the Mainhattan skyline” according to the hotel’s website. The Sky Deluxe rooms are the most expensive rooms at the hotel and I assumed that those rooms would be on the upper floors. Instead I got a room on the 9th floor out of 20 and the view was blocked by a massive scaffolding. The hotel opened in May this year and it is still under construction. Of course this was not mentioned on either the hotel’s website or Booking.com.

You can only open one window and the air conditioning did not work. This and the plastic mattress protector lead to a very uncomfortable night. I woke up several times being overheated and being unable to fall back asleep.
The bathrooms are quite small and there are no hangers for towels apart from inside the shower. The shower leaked even though the shower door was closed properly. I think it will be an excellent hotel in the future for single travellers who are staying in Frankfurt for business, but not family-friendly due the small rooms and small bathrooms. The Sky Deluxe room costs €215 per night including breakfast for two people.
