Setting myself a luggage challenge

My challenge might not seem as a real challenge to most of you but for me it truly is. I love to take a lot of luggage with me on holiday and people who know me or travel with me, know I never travel light. It’s the idea of being able to take a lot of clothes, shoes, accessories and whatever else I might need and to have the choice of those items whilst I am on holiday. I often pack the clothes with the actual hangers so that I can easily unpack them. IKEA does great hangers for this purpose; they are light and quite slim and don’t take up a lot of space. Very practically as I mainly wear dresses and it only takes a short time to unpack my suitcase and hang the clothes up in the wardrobe. My friend recently travelled to Spain for a whole week with only hand luggage. She travelled with EasyJet and could only take one piece of hand luggage. Not her bag and a small suitcase. No, she took only one bag pack. It is a mystery to me how she coped. However she did mentioned to me, that she had a light sunburn because she didn’t want to spend 10€ for sunscreen that she couldn’t take home with her anyway. She is a bit tight with money, but for some weird reason that was really inspiring to me. Of course I am not planning to travel to Las Vegas with only hand luggage, but as I usually travel with two large suitcases, a small suitcase and my large Michael Kors bag for a one or two week stay abroad I have decided to take only one large suitcase, a small suitcase and my bag for my nearly three week stay in Las Vegas.

They say you wear 20% of your wardrobe 80% of the time and yes I am ‘guilty’ of this. I know that and still I pack clothes that I know I haven’t worn for ages and I probably won’t wear them on holiday YET I have to take them because I might change my mind or I try to convince myself that I look 10lbs slimmer in that dress abroad. Of course I won’t magically lose weight on the plane to my chosen destination. I have never flown with anybody but Virgin Atlantic transatlantic and their food is fantastic.

So I decided to take only those clothes that I wear a lot at home, that means my favourite dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans (Well, I only one own pair of jeans.) and a few pair of shoes. Beauty products like shampoo, conditioner and shower gel I will buy in Las Vegas. It doesn’t cost much and I will probably use the products up during my stay, the same with sunscreen and body moisturiser. I always took a lot of make up with me, but I mainly wear the same make up every day. So I will only take a 2-3 eye shadows and lipsticks. Sephora and MAC Cosmetics have both a huge store in Las Vegas and if I need something I will buy it there. I am sure I will go clothes shopping and they do have laundrettes in Vegas too.

I am intending on taking two large suitcases home though; I will put one large suitcase into the other and if I need too (and I probably will) I can pack my new belongings into the other suitcase. At the moment I am deciding on what I will take with me and what stays at home.
