Getting back into my old beauty routine

My goal for 2016 is to get back into my beauty routine. 2015 was my ‘I don’t give a ****’ year, I basically let myself go – a lot. I gained a lot weight, didn’t care much about my eyebrows which I am currently growing so that I can get them sorted out once and for all by a professional. Please tell me it’s okay to go to a fancy beauty salon with bushy eyebrows?

My skin care routine is bad, oh who am I kidding: It’s non existing at the moment. I get up in the morning, shower and that’s it. My Clinique products are somewhere in a bottom draw with all the other cosmetic and toiletries I didn’t use since I moved from London to Germany last year. They have probably dried out by now. Yes, that’s what I have come to. I am moving to Switzerland soon and my new position involves a lot of travel. It’s basically based between Milan and Lugano with trips to Athen, Zurich and some other places in Switzerland and Italy. I am really looking forward to it and thinking about all the new people I will meet, I really want to make an effort again. But where do I start?

Luckily, I attended the Mumsnet Blogfest last year and found out about Sali Hugh’s book Pretty Honest: The Straight-Talking Beauty Companion. I started flicking through the book on the train ride home and loved it straight away, but then I moved shortly after and since then it’s on the shelf. There is another book that I really want to read, it’s How to Be Parisian: Wherever You Are by Anne Berest. Has anybody read the book and can tell me if it is worth buying?

When people who I met this year, see how much makeup and beauty products I own, they can’t believe it. I didn’t really use make up this year, unless I went out in the evening or to a special occasion. In 2016 I want to look after myself a bit more.

What are your beauty goals for 2016? Is there anything you would like to try out or change about your beauty routine?

I totally need to get back into a beauty routine too. My skincare routine consists of cleansing wipes and… Cleansing wipes. This needs to change! X

I need to try more beauty products and stay away from MAC for a bit. Everything I have is MAC, lol.
