Watermelons are the perfect food to eat in summer. They are delicious, low in calories and super hydrating, making them a great snack during hot days. I love eating watermelons during the summer and I usually eat at least one a week. Apparently, in 2016 watermelons are much more than just a fruit. They are big in fashion too. This summer, you don’t just eat them – you wear them too.
I am currently planning my summer travel wardrobe and wherever I look, I stumble across watermelon printed swimwear.
While I don’t think I can pull off a teeny weeny watermelon bikini, I love the Soludos Watermelon Slice Espadrilles
and the South Beach Watermelon Print Beach Bag
Watermelons have also inspired quite a few beauty products. Not only can you get lipsticks and nail polish in the watermelon colour, no, there is actually a Watermelon Keratin Blowout and a matching eau de parfum.
If you still can’t get enough of the watermelon trend, check out the products below. You can get nearly everything from a watermelon print ironing board cover to even an Origami set.
What do you think of the watermelon trend?
First of all, I am not a Katy Perry fan at all. Of course I sometimes listen to her music on Spotify, but that’s as far as it goes. I love H&M though, and I got quite excited when I saw the pictures for Katy Perry’s Holiday print campaign. In the H&M’s Holiday 2015 commercial Katy first appears as a fairy before conjuring to life an unbelievable cast of characters, from a life-sized gingerbread men to oversized presents on roller skates and giant teddy bears. The soundtrack of the commercial is ‘Every Day is a Holiday’ written by Katy for the commercial and produced by Duke Dumont.
“I had such a festive time shooting this larger-than-life holiday commercial with Jonas Åkerlund, and all of the fun clothes, especially my favourite, the Elfie Selfie sweater. H&M has been a part of the evolution of my personal style since I was 13, when I would start to incorporate fun, affordable H&M pieces into my vintage wardrobe. I can’t wait for you to give your wardrobe some sparkle with this magical holiday collection,” (Katy Perry)
Katy appears in both the commercial and accompanying print campaign. The collection mixes festive glamour, style and fun. My favourite pieces are the lipstick-red dress, the black tuxedo with the open sleeves and a T-Shirt embroidered with sequined red bows. I think the Elfie jumper is cute and it’s my favourite Christmas jumper so far this season.
“I love the mix of style and updated traditions in this year’s Holiday collection. These are pieces for pure pleasure, whether it’s the perfect party dress for the best night out, or the cosiest fun jumper for relaxing with friends and family,” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design.
What do you think of the collection? Do you have your eyes set on a special piece? Are you going to take elfies this Christmas? Let me know in the comments box below! H&M’s Holiday collection will be available in H&M stores worldwide from mid-November, so any day now!
Ever since ‘Murder on the Dance Floor’ was in the German charts in 2001 I have been a Sophie Ellis Bextor fan. In 2012 and without my knowledge I was actually inside her house in West London, meeting her children and talking about Power Rangers with them. I also always admired the collection of Phase Eight, but as I always tried to lose weight I couldn’t justify the price tag. When I heard that Sophie-Ellis Bextor is the new face of Phase Eight, I got very excited and couldn’t wait to tell you all about it. Luckily I can spread the word now as the collection was officially launched today.
Sophie will front the Phase Eight campaign for spring summer 2015. The successful singer and songwriter has worked with the brand to create a beautiful and stylish campaign that ‘epitomises the feminitiy and elegance of the premium womenswear brand‘.
The collection consists of 22 pieces, twelve dresses in pretty lace, floral prints and a colour palette from blush pinks to vibrant reds, purples and greens. Styles range from the fifties inspired, Ninette fit-and-flare dress (above) with eye-catching paint stroke floras to the fitted Elodine dress (below) with its modern rose placement pink that will work just as great in the office as it does for a fancy night out.
Each look is completed with beautiful jewellery, heels and clutchbags. Sophie comments: ‘This collection provides perfect outfit solutions for summer weddings and garden parties where you always want to feel special and unique. I love how the collection exudes feminine and stylish dressing’.
Judith Bremmer, Director of Phase Eight, says ‘Sophie is the ultimate Phase Eight woman – she is successful, confident, loves fashion and interprets it to work for her own personal style. She relates well to our customers who aspire to wear dresses that are elegant, flattering and versatile and our full collection offers beautiful and contemporary designs with unique prints and feminine shapes that meet their full wardrobe requirements’.
Phase Eight celebrates a hugely succesful time with the launch of the new collection. The brand has grown worldwide, the number of stores and concessions has risen to over 400 across the globe. Lee Harlow, Managing Director says ‘Having Sophie as a brand ambassador demonstrates how far the Phase Eight success story has come. We have become a prominent and favourite go-to brand, not only on the great British High Street but worldwide. We are so proud of our unique collections that offer women the opportunity to look and feel amazing and it’s great to have Sophie working with us to showcase the very best of what we do and offer
My personal favourite dress of the collection is the Chantay Rose Dress as seen above. I always had a bias for dresses with kimono sleeves and floral prints, so combining both is a win win.
Let me know what you think about the collection. You can see the entire collection here.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I got an email last week, telling me that I won the ‘Ladbrokes Choice’ for the Great Summer Bake Off with my Slutty Brownies. I could choose vouchers for a store of my choice and of course I chose Selfridges. Even though I bought myself a new Michael Kors bag at the beginning of this month, I am already lusting after another: Selma in Dark Dune. All of my current Michael Kors bags are black and I really want to get some colour into my collection.
I absolutely love this colour, it’s called dark dune
, very classy and it goes with lots of colours well. The bag costs £315 and you can order it here
It is not hard to see why the A-list flock to MICHAEL Michael Kors for their city essentials with chic and versatile designs like the Selma satchel. Fashioned in saffiano leather, this structured day bag boasts an adjustable shoulder strap, additional carry handles and five internal pockets for organising your essentials. We love its distinct trapeze shape – carry yours in the crook of the arm to lend a dose of designer luxe to your everyday style. (Height 26cm, width 42cm, depth 15cm, handle drop 10cm, maximum strap length 105cm)
George is older and I don’t really need to take many things with me for him when we go out. A bottle of water, maybe a bib when he is wearing something that I don’t want to get dirty and a coat if it is cold. With Max it is a total different story: Nappies, wipes, changes of clothes, bottles, formula powder, bibs, nappy cream… The list goes on. There are not many great changing naps out there and most of the time I only take a few things with me and put them in my Michael Kors bag. It’s not that I don’t like his nappy bag, we have the Northcote changing bag from Jojo Maman Bebe but I usually only use it for longer outings, for example when I take the boys to Brighton for the day.
Finding the right changing bag is harder than you might think, especially if you want to combine fashion with functionality. BabyBeau was created when Mumpreneur Rebecca Gono discovered a gap in the marketplace for changing bags that didn’t merely serve their purpose, but looked great and enabled a life beyond the baby years. Rebecca struggled to find a changing bag that was both stylish, functional and fitted with the challenges of modern-day parenting after the birth of her son.
“Becoming a parent throws you into a completely new arena. Many parents find themselves juggling different lifestyles: as a parent, in business, and a wife/husband or partner. Through BabyBeau, I’ve designed a collection of bags that adapt to these various lifestyles without surrendering fashion for practicality, enabling parents to have it all.”
Each baby bag has been meticulously designed to comfortably accommodate parenthood, whilst enabling parents to maintain their sense of style. You can remove the pop-out baby organiser to transform every bag instantly to a regular handbag to use for any occasion. May it be for a business meeting or lunch with your friends, the bag makes room for a lifestyle beyond nappies, baby-wipes, bottles and bibs.
You can order the changing bags online at John Lewis >>here<<.

I love H&M. Most of my clothes are from the Swedish clothing chain and not a week passes without me either browsing online on their website or visiting one of their stores. Autumn is approaching and I am already starting to think about my wardrobe. Autumn is all about layers in my opinion and I usually wear summer dresses with a cardigan and tights with matching flats. I am also a big fan of trench coats and usually buy at least one new one in autumn. Below you can see all items on my current H&M wishlist.

On Wednesday, the 30th of July, newly married Fearne Cotton launched her autumn/winter 2014 range for Very.co.uk. It is the 13th collection she has designed for the fashion online store. The event was at the infamous celebrity hangout, the Groucho Club in Soho. Bloggers and journalists drank passion fruit martinis and mojitos while looking at the new pieces, everybody was eager to see all the items of the new collection and it is worth looking at.
While most of her style does not suit my personal taste, there a few pieces I love and of course one of them is the canary yellow dress Fearne Cotton wore to the event. Unfortunately a bright yellow is not a colour I can pull off but Fearne loves absolutely amazing in it. You see the whole collection, check out the Very website here.
Bonprix recently asked me to offer my opinion about suitable swimwear for my body shape. I am apple shaped with a large chest and find it hard to find the right bikini that not only looks good but also offers enough support on top:
“For around the pool I like dark colours that don’t draw attention to my figure. My favourites are navy blue, black, dark red and emerald green. I try to avoid little patterns and I like stripes or dots. It’s important that the swimwear is the right size and offers the support needed. The last thing you want to do is to keep pulling up your bikini bottoms or tops! 50s style bikinis also seem to be a big trend this year; they are ideal for apple shaped women, especially for those with a large chest as they tend to have wide straps and high bottoms.”
I have chosen a few pieces I can recommend and would wear myself from the Bonprix swimwear collection.
This balcony balcony is underwired and comes in two different colours, black/olive and grey/blue. It costs £27.99 and comes in the UK sizes 10-20. You can order it here.
This is an eyelet push-up bikini, but you can remove the push up cushions if wanted. The bikini is available in the UK sizes 8-20 and it costs £29.99. You can order it here.

Apparently no lifestyle blog is complete without a What’s in my bag post. My bag is the Michael Kors Selma. It costs £315 in the UK and is available at Selfridges, Harrods or the Michael Kors stores. I bought it while I was in Las Vegas this year. The Bedford purse is also from Michael Kors and is priced at £125. I got it last year for Christmas. Always with me is my iPhone with its headphones and charger. I use my phone a lot and the battery runs out in a few hours, so I often just pop into the next Starbucks so that I can charge my phone. I take the iPad mini with me to read books on my Kindle app. I am currently reading “A week in December” by Sebastian Faulks for Boo’s Book Club. You can find it on Twitter with the hashtag #boosbookclub. My travel cards are inside my Cath Kidston card holder, much easier than always having to take the cards out of my purse. I usually take my passport with me and of course I can’t leave the house without my keys. Oh, and I know, my passport has seen better days. I sometimes take my digital camera along. I am off to Germany tomorrow and I put in my bag so that I won’t forget it. The blue Longchamp wallet is my Euro wallet. I keep my Euro currency in it and it’s in there for the weekend. Some ticket machines don’t accept my Visa debit card in Germany, so I actually ended up taking a train without a valid ticket once. I always have my hair brush with me and some hair spray. My Cherry Chap stick is another thing I have to have in my bag. Otherwise, I usually do not have much make up in my bag, unless I am going out in the evenings. Being out and about with two little boys is stressful and I don’t get the time to reapply make up every hour.
What’s in your bag? Do you have a ‘What’s in my bag?’ post? If yes, leave the link below and if not, get posting.
Today I received the new Cath Kidston catalogue for the autumn 2014 collection. I have always been a huge Cath Kidston fan and of course there are many pieces in the new collection that I love. A few items have made it to the top of my wishlist and I can’t wait to see the items in store. 180 Piccadilly is the home a Cath Kidston store, if not THE Cath Kidston store.

On Friday my friend Svenja and I went shopping and of course we went to Primark. I am going on holiday soon and I need a few bits and pieces. I bought a few things, two dresses to wear at the beach, a striped T-shirt and the two following things:
This bag is ideal for the beach. It is large, trendy and it only costs £4. I am already looking forward to take it to South Beach or the pool in Las Vegas.
I love love love this t shirt. I am actually going to wear it tomorrow, or better, later when I sit my exam. The t-shirt costs £5.
